The more time I spend on the Zara Home site, the more I wish I could decorate my own place (which I don’t have) from scratch. It’s not just the feeling of creating something where there was nothing, it’s also the possibility to make it your own. To do what you want to do and decorate the place so when people come in, they immediately get the feeling that they are getting to know ‘you’. You’d be surprised how much you could learn about someone just by looking at their house.

That’s one of the reasons I’m kind of sceptic about those design programs you see on TV. Take ’60 Minute Make-Over’ for example. The concept is that one of the family members or a friend calls in and explains to the makers why their friend deserves a house make-over. Usually they really do deserve it, but other times people are just too lazy to get started and I’m not sure that’s fair. Anyway, once they’re on the show, they meet up with a designer who asks them about the owner’s preferences. They’d go through colours, themes and in the end do whatever the fuck they want to do anyway. Usually the person’s happy with the result (or is just too scared/shocked to state otherwise), but gahd.. Do not EVER do that to me! Let me explain: I loooove interior design and hiring someone else to design my place for me would be a harsh slap in the face. It would be like taking away my candy, and nobody touches my candy (remember that). It has it’s upsides: you get everything for free (hooray), you don’t have to worry about all the work, you get your face on TV (you’ll probably be crying.. which may make things weird), … It’s just not for me.
Anyhow, back to the items. When scanning the new collection there were a few things I instantly fell in love with and I’ve clicked them into my virtual basket over a hundred times now. I just never went through with it – because I have nowhere to put it all. I hope you’ll love these as much as I do. Have a nice day!
